FRANKLIN
CARMICHAEL (1890-1945)
Franklin
Carmichael was born in Orillia, Ontario.
At the age of twenty he moved to Toronto
and entered the Ontario College of Art.
Carmichael
was greatly influenced by Tom Thomson
and as the youngest of the Group of Seven,
he was also on the fringe of the group
because of his difference in age and as
such was closely associated with the newer
members of the Group.
He
is most remembered for his watercolours,
with many of his paintings depicting Ontarian
landscapes. |
